Houston police officers recently handled several investigations. 

The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Houston Police Department:

•Sonya R. Byrd, 32, of 18230 Brushy Creek Road in Houston, was issued citations for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop on Hawthorn Street at about 10:15 p.m. Jan. 16.

Byrd was cited after an officer observed a blue Chevrolet pickup stopped for more than two minutes without moving on at Hawthorn and First Street. After making contact with the occupants of the vehicle, the officer ended up finding pot and a smoking device.

Byrd was taken to the Texas County Jail, fingerprinted and released.

•Amie J. Stokes, 36, of 115 Oak Crest in Houston, was arrested Jan. 18 for having an active warrant for a traffic offense in O’Fallon, Mo.

An officer made the arrest after being dispatched to Stokes’ residence regarding a report of a civil dispute. A routine computer check revealed the warrant.

Stokes was taken to the Texas County Jail where she was unable to post $1,700 bond.

•Juan Ramirez-Silva, 41, of 712 W. Chestnut St. in Houston, was issued citations on charges of driving while intoxicated and driving without a valid license after a two-vehicle accident in the Walmart parking lot at about 7:30 p.m. Jan. 11.

•Eric S. Caswell, 27, of 8630 Highway 17 in Bucyrus, was arrested Jan. 17 for having an active Phelps County warrant for first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle.

An officer arrested Caswell as he exited Walmart after a store representative reported he was there. Caswell was taken to the Texas County Jail to await transport to Phelps County.

•An 82-year-old Elk Creek man reported Dec. 31 that a U.S. 63 storage unit of his had been broken into and two chainsaws and a stereo system stolen. There are no suspects.

•Andrea J. Thompson, 34, of 204 Chestnut Terrace in Houston, was arrested Jan. 17 for having an active Dixon Police Department warrant for contempt of court/stealing. An officer made the arrest at the state probation and parole office after being made aware that Thompson was there.

She was taken to the Texas County Jail where she was unable to post $2,330 bond.

•Anthony J. Jones, 53, of 16730 Highway B in Houston, was issued a citation for possession of marijuana after allegedly attempting to smuggle pot into the Texas County Jail at about 5:30 p.m. Jan. 9.
