Marjorie Louise (Wright) Stilley, 77, daughter of Elijah and Maysol (Taylor) Wright, was born Sept. 24, 1937, in Conway, Ark., and departed this life Jan. 17, 2015, in her home in Houston Mo., from an apparent heart attack.
Most of Marjorie’s childhood was spent in Wright Arkansas, where she attended Plumb Bayou School. Marjorie and her family relocated to Long Beach, Calif., where she graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High school. After that she attended Long Beach College.
While living in Long Beach, she married Francis Mayfield. To this union a son, Roger Mayfield, was born. This marriage was not to be, but Marjorie and Francis would remain lifelong friends.
Marjorie and her family left California and relocated to Bucyrus, Mo. There she met Raymond Leroy Stilley and they were wed. They enjoyed 47 years together. To this union two sons, Kevin Leroy and Robert Scott, were born.
Marjorie was an amazing woman. She co-owned and operated her own clothing store, Fashion Corner. She and Leroy operated a Montgomery Ward and JC Penny store. She worked and retired from Rural Development, and then had her own Mortgage Company. She was a former President of the Texas County Women’s Democrats club.
Marjorie was a woman with an infectious laugh and a quick wit, and a soft heart who always made everyone feel welcome at her home. She was an avid Cardinals fan. Marjorie loved to spend time going to the grand kid’s ballgames, and going to yard sales and auctions with her daughters-in-law and granddaughters. She also loved to play cards and aggravation. One of Marjorie’s greatest joys in life was her children and grandchildren, who she loved immensely.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy; her parents; brothers, Robert and Douglas Wright; and sister, Doris Brockelbank.
She is survived by three sons, Roger Mayfield and wife, Lesia, of Houston, Kevin Stilley and wife, Angie, of Houston and Scott Stilley and wife, Cathy, of Willow Springs; 12 grandchildren, Azure’de, Matt and Kyle Mayfield, Ashley Daily, Dustin Kirkman, Amanda Rossignol, Tyler, Jasmin, Hunter and Parker Stilley, Amanda Beavers and Kelsey Tooley; and six great-grandchildren, Skylar Kinnaird, Gavyn and Garrett Barnes, Grace and Joel Rossignol and Duke Kirkman.
Marjorie will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services were 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Marcus Kinserlow officiating. Pallbearers were Roger Mayfield, Kevin Stilley, Scott Stilley, Dustin Kirkman, Matt Mayfield, Kyle Mayfield, Ashley Daily, Tyler Stilley and Amanda Beavers. Honorary Pallbearers were Azure Mayfield, Amanda Rossignol, Jasmin Stilley, Kelsey Tooley, Hunter Stilley and Parker Stilley. Burial was in Dykes Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
