MIKE IMPEY 

David Michael “Mike” Impey, 64, son of David E. and Rose (McNamee) Impey, was born on Feb. 10, 1950, in Waynesville, Mo. He passed away at his residence in Houston, Mo., on Jan. 13, 2015.

He was preceded in death by one brother, William David “Bill” Impey, and a sister, Rita Louise Impey-Imes.

He is survived by his parents; brothers, John and Joe of Houston, Mo., and Jim and Robert of Columbia, Mo.; and one sister, Julia Aubrey of Oxford, Miss.

Mike grew up in LaPlata and Florissant, Mo., and returned to Houston in 1964, graduating in the Houston High School class of 1968. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1976 with a degree in Russian History. He later received a degree in business form Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn. During his life, Mike had the opportunity to travel the world and spent many years working with Mechanical Systems Inc. in Saudi Arabia. He owned manufacturing businesses in Nashville, Tenn., and Houston, Mo.

For 16 years, Mike worked as the regional manager of Sweeping Corporation of Florida based in Atlanta, Ga. Mike returned to Houston in 2007 and became active in local politics and the Houston Lion’s Club, in which he received the Lion of the Year Award in 2012.

Mike had a passion for cars and planes and was a licensed pilot.

Memorial services were 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church with Father Matt Rehrauer officiating. Inurnment was in the Pine Lawn Cemetery.
