The Houston Tigers had two close calls at last week’s Liberty Tournament and lost them both.

In Monday’s opening round, Dylan Hooper scored a season-high 16 points to lead three players in double figures in Houston’s 63-60 loss to Summersville.

Junior Skylur Malam scored 13 points and Kolby Walker added 12 in the loss.

On Friday, Ty Wilkins had team highs of 12 points and nine rebounds off the bench in the Tigers’ 49-43 loss to Alton in the consolation round.

Kobe Sutton added 10 points for Houston (3-12).

JUNIOR VARSITY: Riley Cavaness scored 14 points and Tyler Burris had 11 in the JV Tigers’ 43-39 overtime loss Saturday to Doniphan in the third-place game of the Liberty Tournament.

Cavaness hit three of Houston’s five 3-pointers. Burris and Trevor Motzkus also connected from downtown.

In Thursday’s semifinals, Caleb Adkison scored a team-best eight points in Houston’s 55-21 loss to Liberty.
