KOBE SUTTON

G | Jr. | 6-0

Houston snapped a three-game losing skid with a victory on the home court of the Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzlies.

Playing Friday inside the West Plains Civic Center, the Tigers got 18 points from junior Kobe Sutton and 10 more from Skylur Malam to beat Alton 57-41.

The victory was the first for HHS (3-7) since a 53-33 home win Dec. 16 against Stoutland.

Sutton made four of Houston’s seven 3-pointers in the double-digit victory. Malam, Dylan Hooper and Nathan Poynter also connected from downtown.

Senior Kolby Walker had four of the team’s 11 steals. Keegan Spurlin grabbed a team-best nine rebounds.

Houston’s 57 points were the second-most of the season. The Tigers scored 68 points on Dec. 11 against Niangua in the consolation round of the Mansfield Invitational. They had 56 points in the same tournament in a loss to Bakersfield.

Alton, which has just one victory this season, led 14-10 after the opening quarter. But the Tigers used a 15-3 edge in the second to take a lead they would not relinquish.

Houston, which led 25-17 at the half, extended the lead to double figures entering the fourth.
