Carl W. Sharp, 68, passed away Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia.
He was born Dec. 18, 1946, in Russell, Ark., son of Albert and Ruby Isom Sharp. He and Kathy Joyce Willbanks were married Aug. 30, 1992.
He joined the 3rd Battalion, 508th Infantry at the age of 18. He transferred to the 4th Battalion, 41st Infantry as a paratrooper. He served from Sept. 16, 1964 until Sept. 15, 1967. He received a National Defense Service Medal, Parachute Badge and a Marksman Rifle Badge.
He was an active member of the Licking Pentecostal Holiness Church as long as his health permitted.
He loved to spend time with family fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Amanda Case; two sisters, Bonnie Sandefur and Margaret Pennington; and two brothers, A.J. Sharp and Jerry Sharp.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy; a daughter, Angela Sullins; a granddaughter; a grandson; and many other family members and friends.
Services were Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Amy Dickens officiating. Burial with full military honors was in Beulah Cemetery.
