The following are excerpts of reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
•A deputy was dispatched Feb. 8 regarding a report of a cast iron bench stolen from the Long Hollow Cemetery at Plato. A caretaker at the facility showed the officer evidence of someone driving over a fence post and through a grassy area.
There are no suspects.
•A woman called Feb. 8 to report her car had been damaged at her Highway B residence. An investigating officer observed that a tire had popped off and caused the damage.
•Billy J. Hayes Jr. 24, of 217 Bryan Street in Houston, was issued citation for resisting arrest and failing to obey a law officer after an incident at a Highway 17 residence at Houston at about 11:15 p.m. Feb. 7.
An officer was dispatched to the location regarding a report of trespassing. The officer made contact with Hayes at the home, and determined he was the violator.
Hayes reportedly refused to leave and threatened to break a window in a car parked at the residence. When the officer told him he was under arrest and tried to handcuff him, Hayes reportedly resisted. He was eventually taken to the ground and apprehended.
Hayes was taken to the Texas County Jail and cited.
•A woman called at about 1:30 p.m. Feb. 6 to report she had lost her car keys at her Highway AD residence. An investigating officer found them.
•A woman called at about 11 p.m. Feb. 5 to report she had lost a money order at her U.S. 63 apartment at Cabool. Before an investigating officer arrived, the woman called back and said she had found it.
•Summer Cain, 38, of 12368 Highway AD at Cabool, was issued a citation for third-degree assault after allegedly striking her 51-year-old former husband on the head during an incident at about 9:30 p.m. Feb. 7. An investigating officer observed a cut on the man’s head.
Cain was taken to the Texas County Jail and cited.
•A 73-year-old Licking woman called Feb. 6 to report that she couldn’t find her prescription medication and believed someone had swiped it from her Highway C residence. The woman stated there was no sign of entry into her home and nothing appeared to have disturbed.
•A 61-year-old Illinois man called Jan. 26 to report that property he owns in Raymondville had been logged off without his permission. An investigating officer made contact with a 79-year-old man who owns adjacent property who stated the other man’s property was logged by mistake. A report was sent to the county prosecutor.
•Shaun C. Cross, 22, of 18015 Emmett Kelly Road in Houston, was issued citations for first-degree trespassing and third-degree assault after an incident Feb. 1.
An investigating officer was dispatched to Texas County Memorial Hospital regarding a report of a 57-year-old man with injuries from an assault. The man told the officer Cross had trespassed on his Highway 17 property and assaulted him. The man reportedly had a dislocated jaw, and the officer observed cuts and swelling on his face and scratches on his sides.
Cross also had an active felony warrant (offense unreported). He was taken to the Texas County Jail.
•Dwight R. Colborn, 58, of 1531 Colborn Road at Cabool, was on Feb. 2 issued a citation for third-degree assault – dog biting another person after a pit bull he owns allegedly bit a 71-year-old Kansas man, causing severe damage to his right wrist.
The victim reportedly told an investigating officer the bite was a “life-changing event,” and that he no longer has any feeling in his right hand and he has a hard time gripping things with it.
•A 77-year-old Plato woman reported Feb. 3 that a horse trailer on her Evening Shade Road property had been broken into and a Hereford brand saddle valued at $1,000 had been stolen. There are no suspects.
