Ella Maxine Cole Burns, 98, passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, in Sullivan.
She was born July 17, 1916, in Montauk, daughter of Jasper and Effie Cole.
She was active in her church. Her hobbies included quilting, fishing and her flower garden. She resided in her home until June 17, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Burns; her parents; two sisters, Lorene Johnston and Molly Tomson; and a brother, Sam Cole.
Survivors include a sister, Irene Wilson of Salem; seven children, June Hinson of Rolla, Vida Burns of Licking, Polly Jones of St. Clair, Sue Jost of Bourbon, Sandra Hoover of Columbia City, Ind., Carl Burns of Union and Ellen Smith of Ocala, Fla; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, in Boone Creek Cemetery with Gene Dewitt officiating. Services are under direction of Fox Funeral Home.
