Susie Wilson

Lorraine “Susie” D. Wilson, 91, passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015, at her home in Houston.

She was born March 3, 1923, in Hancock, Minn., daughter of Leonard L. and Annie Rose Sheldon Porath. She and Mark M. Wilson were married July 12, 1938, in Long Beach, Calif.

She was a licensed vocational nurse for 30 years in Downey, Calif., working in surgery and ICU.

She enjoyed crocheting, playing the violin, gardening, taking pictures, flowers and plants. She loved daily walks along the river with her dog, Butch.

She was a member of the Mt. Vernon Community Club, where she enjoyed visiting with her friends

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Mark; three children, Emma Rose, Phyllis Jeanne and Mark Thomas; and an infant brother, Jessie Warren Porath.

Survivors include four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.

At her request, there will not be a memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to The Animal Shelter of Texas County.
