The Animal Shelter of Texas County (TASTC) will host a fundraiser dinner and auction Saturday in the community building at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Fairgrounds on U.S. 63 north of Houston.
The event begins at 6 p.m., with the auction starting at 7:30. Live music will be provided by the Houston High School Jazz Band.
The event’s guest of honor will be Susan Hinkle, founder Missouri Paws Patriot Paws (MPP), a Rolla-based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or traumatic brain injury (TBI) obtain dogs trained and certified to handle their specific conditions. Several veterans will accompany Hinkle, and she will speak about her organization, and the role service dogs play for veterans. Also, a dog that came from TASTC will be presented its service vest after completing the MPP training program.
Tickets for the dinner are $20 in advance or $22 at the door. There is no charge to attend the auction only.
All proceeds will benefit the nonprofit animal shelter.
For more information or to arrange to arrange to donate new or lightly used items to the auction, call TASTC at 417-967-0700.
