Maj. Gen. Leslie Smith talks at a forum.

The U.S. Army announced that Maj. Gen. Leslie Smith, U.S. Army Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general, is slated to become the deputy to the inspector general in office of the secretary of the Army in Washington, D.C.

As Smith leaves Fort Leonard Wood, Brig. Gen. Kent Savre will take the helm as MSCoE and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general.

Savre is no stranger to Fort Leonard Wood as he is an engineer, who was the director of the Counter Explosive Hazards Center at Fort Leonard Wood from 2005 to 2007.

A Minnesota native, Savre comes to Fort Leonard Wood from the U.S. Army Engineer Division, North Atlantic, Brooklyn, N.Y., where he was the commanding general.
