Verneta Faye Williamson

Verneta Faye Williamson, 87, was born Feb. 9, 1928, in Ellis Prairie, Mo., to Herbert and Myrtle (Maggard) Hale. She passed away Feb. 9, 2015, at Houston House, Houston, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Wilbert “Pete” Williamson; a brother, Herbert Jr.; and a sister, Leota Traylor.

Verneta is survived by her children, Sandra Matthews and husband, Steve, of Amorett, Mo., Carl Stewart, Jr and Craig Stewart of Houston, Mo., Kerry Hartman of Houston, Mo., Kathy Stoner of Basehor, Kan., and Lori Lalumia and husband, Gary (Mike), of Blue Springs, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Freida Roberts and Eunice Smith of Hazelwood, Mo.; and many other family members.

She grew up in the Ellis Prairie community and graduated from Houston High School in 1947. Verneta loved attending church and was very faithful until her health failed.

Verneta married Wilbert “Pete” Williamson on June 3, 1994. She enjoyed traveling to California to visit family, taking care of her animals, going to yard sales, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her dogs.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services were 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at Evans Funeral Home with Dr. Howell Burkhead officiating. Pallbearers were Craig Stewart, Carl Stewart, Jr., Robert Stewart, Dustin Hartman, Justin Smith, Travis Stoner and Austin Snyder. Burial was in Hickory Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
