A Texas County officeholder has died.
Recorder of Deeds Susan Warkentin, 63, died Sunday at Texas County Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
A 1969 graduate of Houston High School, she was elected in 2010 to the post and was re-elected unopposed to another four-year term in 2014. On Monday, the county commission named Lindsay Koch as the interim recorder of deeds until the governor appoints a permanent replacement.
Returning to Texas County in 2004, Mrs. Warkentin worked in real estate and stock brokerage before being elected to office.
