Texas County’s unemployment rate jumped 2 full percentage points in January, the Missouri Department of Economic Development said.
The figure was 8.1 percent.
The agency said the employed figure in the county was 8,756. Unemployed numbers stood at 770, up 91 from December.
In south-central Missouri, the average jobless rate in January was 7.7 percent. Area counties and their unemployment rates: Douglas, 7.5; Howell, 7.1; Shannon, 9.4; and Wright, 6.9.
