Accidents on slick roads injured eight Texas County residents on Saturday, Feb. 28.

Eight Texas County residents were injured Saturday in three accidents on slick highways, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Tpr. D.E. Rogers said a westbound 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer on U.S. 60 lost control on snow-covered U.S. 60, travelled off the roadway and struck an embankment before overturning at about 10:35 a.m.

The driver, Kevin L. Stilley, 46, and passengers, Angela R. Stilley, 40; Hunter W. Stilley, 13; and Parker C. Stilley, 12, all of Houston, were taken by ambulance with minor injuries to Cox South.

Rogers said the vehicle was totaled. All were wearing seat belts when the crash occurred in Wright County just west of Highway 5.

Three Licking residents were hurt at about 1:08 p.m. in an accident on U.S. 63 at Twin Bridges that closed the highway north of Houston for a short time.

Tpr. Marty Wiseman said a southbound 2008 Toyota Sienna van driven by Jared M. Lilly, 17, was stopped in traffic because of a vehicle stuck in the roadway.  A 2000 Dodge Durango driven by Diannah M. Scott, 28, struck it in the rear.

Lilly and a passenger, Trini K. Lilly, 42, were taken by private vehicle to Texas County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. A passenger in the other vehicle, Kristoffer N. Scott, 8, was taken by ambulance with minor injuries to TCMH.

Wiseman said everyone was wearing a seat belt. Both vehicles had moderate damage, Wiseman said.

A Cabool woman was injured at 1:15 p.m. when her northbound vehicle began sliding on U.S. 63 just south of Pomona, ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a snow embankment in the median, said Tpr. J.M. Heimsoth.

The driver, Janice R. Pearson, 60, who was wearing a seat belt, was to seek her own medical treatment. The vehicle sustained moderate damage, Heimsoth said.
