Two members of the Houston High School girls’ basketball team were named to the all-district team.
Senior Kylee Elmore and junior Sarah Kelley were among the 10 players named to the team in Class 3 District 10. The HHS boys’ basketball team did not receive a selection.
Elmore, who was third in all-district voting behind Bailie Osborne and Megan Smith of Licking, averaged 15.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.5 steals on 45.6 percent shooting for the Lady Tigers.
Kelley, who was fifth in voting, averaged 16.7 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.8 blocks on 59 percent shooting. Kelley’s scoring average was the highest in the district – just above the 16.2 points per game scored by Mountain Grove’s Sadie Dugger.
Elmore and Kelley have one game remaining in a contest with Thayer that was postponed by snow, rescheduled, canceled and rescheduled again. It will be played at 6 p.m. Tuesday inside Hiett Gymnasium.
Other selections to the girls’ team were: Kelsey Caldwell, Liberty; Beth Sherbo, Willow Springs, Shilo Letterman, Willow Springs; Halie Allred, Hollister; and Alex Ellison, Forsyth.
Licking’s Lane Duncan, who averaged a district-best 28.9 points per game and 9.6 rebounds, led the boys’ selections. Joining him were: Ethan Davidson, Hollister; Luke Daniels, Liberty; Brandon Jahn, Forsyth; D.J. McNew, Mountain Grove; Alex moore, Mountain Grove; Nathan Wilson, Licking; Jansen Acklin, Liberty; Bryce Duddridge, Willow Springs; Tyler Figley, Willow Springs; and Anthony Rosas, Ava.
Figley and Rosas tied for the 10th and final spot on the boys’ team.
Licking girls’ coach Steve Rissler and boys’ coach Ben Glasgow were the coaches of the year.
