Jean Marie Garrity Achey, 94, of Cabool, passed away Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del.
She was born Sept. 25, 1920, in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of William T. and Alice M. Allen Garrity. She and Arthur H. “Pat” Achey, Sr. were married June 24, 1941, at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in south Philly.
She was known as “Mom Mom.”
She was a devout Catholic and the Lord always came first in her life. She took pride in teaching her children and grandchildren about the Catholic religion and prayers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, and a granddaughter.
Survivors include 10 children, Alice M. Hand of Mountain View, Arthur H. Achey, Jr. of Dover, Del., Jean M. Keskes of Berlin, Jacqueline M. Valentino of Weymouth, N.J., Joseph L. Achey of Atco, James J. Achey of Union Dale, Pa., Michael J. Achey of Waterford Works, Thomas W. Achey of Tabernacle, Mary A. Peyerl of Marlton and Kathleen M. Ellison of Cabool; 30 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday, March 9, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Cabool with Father Paul Wightman officiating. Visitation is 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery in Winona under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
