Crews are still working to clear a multiple vehicle crash that closed westbound Interstate 44 at mile marker 184 in Rolla on Saturday and it’s expected to take most of Sunday before both westbound lanes can be re-opened.
MoDOT has managed to get one lane of westbound traffic moving by utilizing interchange ramps in the vicinity of the crash but it’s extremely slow-going. Motorists – especially truckers – are urged to avoid the area. Interstate 70 and U.S. Route 50 are cross-state alternatives, as is U.S 63 south to U.S. Route 60 and west to Springfield.
The crash site at mile marker 184 is just west of U.S. Route 63 at the Kingshighway interchange.
MoDOT crews worked throughout the night to plow snow across the state and will be working throughout Sunday to clear major routes, ramps and bridges while widening out other roadways.
