A rural Licking boy was found west of there last week, officials said.

A boy reported missing in northwest Texas County was found safely last Friday night near Licking.

Emergency personnel were called after an 8-year-old boy was reported missing from a Highway N location west of Licking. Houston Rural Fire Department Chief Don Gaston said his department’s emergency response crew responded, along with members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Texas County Sheriff’s Department and Licking police and fire departments.

Gaston said that just after a command post had been set up and a search dog and personnel were to be deployed, the boy was found by neighbors.

“It was one of those good deals where we didn’t have to do much,” he said. “Things turned out well.
