A Houston High School graduate who was recently elected vice president of the Student Government Association at Central Methodist University has an agenda that emphasizes student involvement.
Kayla Herndon, a sophomore at CMU, has already taken office along with the new president and will remain in her position until April.
“I am hoping to get more students involved in SGA so they can have a say as to what happens here on campus, because it is students’ home away from home,” Herndon said. “I hope that, along with our long-term goals, we could do many more little things around campus to help the students have a more enjoyable time here.”
Herndon majors in history at CMU with an English minor. A Houston native, she is a member of the CMU Eagle women’s track and field team, is on the Homecoming cabinet, Navigators and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Herndon also works on the CMU yearbook, is a member of Kappa Beta Gamma sorority and leads a bible study program in McMurry residence hall on campus. She wants to attend graduate school after CMU focusing on archeology and would like to work in a museum as a curator and do field work.
