The Houston High School tennis team picked up its first victory of the season by beating Mountain Grove 7-2 last Thursday.
Lizzy Swindell and Grady Todd won their respective singles matches 8-2. Lucas Kelley and Sammy Garrett were 8-4 winners.
Alexis Adey and Swindell won their doubles match 8-3.
Houston won a singles and doubles match by forfeit as well.
In the March 27 season opener, Houston was defeated 9-0 at Waynesville.
In the home opener last Tuesday, Houston lost 9-0 to Salem.
JUNIOR VARSITY: Grady Todd won his singles match 6-4 on March 27 for the Houston JV tennis team’s lone points against Waynesville.
Celina Castleman, who played No. 1 singles, was narrowly defeated 7-6 (11-9).
