Texas County ranked second in the state beginning the second week of the spring firearms turkey season, said the Missouri Department of Conservation.
The tally was 431 birds — which was up about 20 from the same period a year ago.
Texas County was behind Franklin County, which had 511 birds.
The breakdown in Texas County was: adult gobblers, 353; juvenile birds, 73; and bearded hens, five.
The season ends May 10 and opened April 20.
