Houston sophomore Abby Casper won sixth in the state in the 100-meter race Saturday.

Abby Casper blazed her way to the state track championships.

Casper, a Houston High School sophomore, won the 200 meters and finished second in the 100 at the Class 3 Sectional 3 on Saturday at Eldon High School.

The 2015 Missouri State High School Activities Association track championships are Friday and Saturday in Jefferson City. Preliminary races are Friday, followed by the finals on Saturday.

In the fourth lane in the 200, Casper sped to victory in 27.62 seconds. Grace Brune of Fatima (27.85) was second.

In the 100, Casper finished second in a tight finish. Her time of 13.33 was barely behind winner Abbey Eskens of Blair Oaks (13.07) and just edged Brune (13.74).

Casper’s sectional performances were identical to her finishes in districts the previous weekend.
