George Washington McCoy, age 85, passed away April 28, 2015, at Kabul Nursing Home.
He was born Jan. 17, 1930, in Success, son of Harvey and Isabell Ramsey McCoy.
He grew up and lived his entire life near Success until he moved to the nursing home. He attended school at a one-room school, named Dunn just east of Success.
In his younger days he had dairy cows, later changing to beef cattle. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and horseback riding. He was good at riding and training horses.
He had a Honda 4×4 ATV automatic Foreman Rubicon that he enjoyed riding on the old trails in the Mark Twain Forest.
He became very close to his caregivers at the Kabul Nursing Home, where he spent his last 14 months.
He accepted the Lord several years ago and attended the Success Baptist Church when he was able.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 11 sisters; and a brother.
Survivors include a sister, Lena McCoy Ward of Success; and many other family members.
Services were Saturday, May 2, at Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Ted Moore and the Rev. Kendall Ford officating. Burial was in the Old Success Cemetery.
