The Licking PRCA rodeo begins May 28.

Shine your boots and dust off your cowboy hat, it’s almost rodeo time.

Licking Chamber of Commerce will hold its 31st annual PRCA Rodeo Thursday-Saturday, May 28 – 30.

The gates to the rodeo grounds will open at 6 each evening.

Pre-rodeo entertainment each day will be the “Mutton Bustin’” competition. Youngsters ages 4 to 8 may sign up from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. next to the information booth. At 7 p.m., 12 entrants’ names will be drawn in the arena and they will compete that night beginning at 7:15.

The rodeo starts at 8 each evening. Some top-name cowboys are scheduled to compete, and John Harrison will be this year’s featured entertainer and barrelman, while Chris Pyle serves as announcer.

Rodeo Saturday is May 30. There will be a large number of vendors set up along South Main Street in Licking from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Kids games will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the Keith Bradshaw Band will perform from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in front of City Hall.

The highlight of the day will be the annual rodeo parade. Line up is at 1:30 p.m. in the high school parking lot. The parade will start at 2 p.m.
