The Houston Rural Fire Association annual membership drive is underway.
Dues will not increase, and members received good news in a mailing that announced the lowering of the association’s ISO rating, which is used to determine insurance rates.
Members are encouraged to contact their insurance agent to see if it will lower their costs.
Other notes:
•A fire line number will be phased out over the next few months. All calls should be made to Texas County 911. Controlled burns should be reported in advance to 911 at 417-967-5309.
•A community room can be rented by calling 417-217-1747.
