Kaighin Elizabeth Hunninghake, daughter of Jeff Hunninghake and Mary Holder Hunninghake, was born April 27, 1995, in Rolla, Mo. She died June 5, 2015, at the age of 20.
She is survived by her parents; siblings, Gus Hunninghake and Chloe Hunninghake; maternal grandparents, Roger and Peggy Holder of Houston, Mo.; paternal grandparents, Carole Hunninghake of Gardner, Kan., and Larry and Barbara Hunninghake of Smithville, Mo.; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins from all over Kansas, Missouri, California, Texas and Alabama.
Kaighin started her life in Rolla, Mo., and lived in Austin, Texas; Mesa, Ariz; Corrales, N.M.; Houston, Mo.; and Colorado Springs, Colo., with her parents. She graduated from Liberty High School in Colorado Springs in December 2012 and moved back to Missouri (which she considered her home) after graduation to attend cosmetology school.
Kaighin was a beautiful young woman, full of life. Her recent years were riddled with difficulties with drug addiction. She longed to be free of that life, and had periods of sobriety, but could never quite get back to herself.
It is with great grief and sorrow that her family writes this obituary. We are glad Kaighin is free and home with the Lord. She accepted him into her heart as a young girl, and the Lord knows her heart. We will miss her sweet spirit, her smile, and the joy her laughter brought to us.
Services were 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at the Houston United Methodist Church with the Rev. Beth Duckworth officiating. Pallbearers were Cory Scheets, Kenzie Scheets, Kori Meyer, Nathan Holder, David Hunninghake, Greg Noonan, Zach Larabee and Gus Hunninghake. Honorary pallbearer was Rachel Pursifull. Burial was in Big Creek Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
The family respectfully suggests that donations be made to the Kaighin Hunninghake Memorial Fund, c/o Evans Funeral Home, in lieu of floral arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.evansfh.com.
