LaVera Collista Sirdoreus Dixon, 84, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 6, 1931, in Yukon, daughter of James and Belle Davis Sirdoreus. She and Wayne Dixon were married Aug. 28, 1950.

She was saved at an early age and faithfully attended church all her life. She was a member of Praise Assembly in Summersville until her health declined. In her last year she attended Countryside Worship.

She worked for Brown Shoe Co. until it closed. She was the Ozark Township Collector for 36 years. She also cashiered auctions for several local auctioneers.

She loved music. She could play the guitar, fiddle and almost any instrument that had strings. She loved to sing, often accompanied by her sister, Ina. She was an avid quilter, stitcher and crocheter. She loved flowers and gardening. When she was younger she enjoyed horseback riding, and she could drive anything with wheels on it. She was a crackshot with a rifle with open sights. LaVera also loved to cook and bake, with bread and rolls her specialties.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Piney Scheets, Alma Malchert, Violet Mings Austin and Daisy Pine; and a brother, Arvel Sirdoreus.

Survivors include her husband Wayne; a son Rick; a sister, Ina Thieman; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other family members.

Services were Sunday, June 21, at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Arvel Schweighauser officiating. Burial was in Big Creek Cemetery.
