Mablene Lewis, 86, of Plato, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015.
She was born Jan. 23, 1929, in Rosie, Ark., daughter of Howard Monroe and Lillian Inman Hargrove. She and Captola “Pete” Lewis were married June 7, 1953.
She was a business teacher for 4 ½ years in Qulin, Mo., and a school librarian 23 years at Plato Schools. She retired in 1989.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Plato, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Captola Lewis; her parents; three brothers, M.J., Marcus Dean and Medford Hargrove; and three sisters, Majesty Norman, Maurine Cartwright and Mae Nell Clark.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Douglas Lewis and his wife, Debbie, of Linn Creek, and David Russell Lewis and his wife, Betty, of Ozark; two sisters-in-law, Jaunita Bohr and Colene Lewis; five grandchildren, Kristin Leigh Bates and her husband, Aaron, Ryan Christopher Lewis and his wife, Meredith, Darren Michael Lewis, Brent Lewis and Kyle Clayton Lewis and his wife, Maria; two great-grandchildren, Beau Dee Thomas Bates and Reagan Elizabeth Lewis; special nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and many friends.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2015, at First Baptist Church of Plato, Mo., with Pastor Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in Mount Rose Memorial Park under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
With Mablene’s devotion to Christ, the family requests, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Plato in her name. Donations may be left or mailed to Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
