Houston police officers recently handled several investigations. 

The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Houston Police Department:

•Dustin H. Fithen, 28, of 302 Mill St. in Houston, was issued a citation for operating an ATV on a city street at about 9:15 p.m. June 7.

•Michael W. Grange, 32, of 1032 Thomasville Road in Houston, was issued citations for driving while intoxicated and driving while suspended after an incident at about 1:15 a.m. June 9.

Grange was cited after an officer responded to a report that a woman had called the Texas County Sheriff’s Department and stated she had observed a man who was apparently intoxicated get out of the driver’s seat of a car at Casey’s General Store on U.S. 63 in Houston. The officer made contact with the man, Grange, and determined he was drunk. He was taken to the Texas County Jail for a six-hour hold period.

•Ryan C. Dennis, 42, of 211 S. Grand Ave., Apt. 103, in Houston, was arrested June 10 for having an active Texas County warrant for forgery. An officer arrested Dennis at the private probation services office after being advised that he was there.

Dennis was taken to the Texas County Jail and held without bond.

•James E. Coats, 39, of 7745 Highway ZZ in Bucyrus, was issued a citation for first-degree trespassing after a 59-year-old Houston man reported finding someone’s personal belongings inside a storage building on his Mill Street property.

An investigating officer observed bedding, a duffle bag full of clothing and a cell phone plugged into a portable charger on the floor of the building. The man told the officer he had not given anyone permission to stay in the building.

After an investigation, Coats was located and arrested at a Mill Street trailer park. He was taken to the Texas County Jail.

•Four women were each cited for stealing under $500 after allegedly attempting to shoplift several items from the Houston Walmart at about 2 p.m. June 7.

Two of the women were reportedly observed by a Walmart employee pushing a cart full of merchandise through the lawn and garden exit and into the parking lot, where they were met by a third woman driving a silver minivan. After an investigation, Lori A. Genzer, 46, of 14 Cabool Apartments Drive in Cabool, Spenser D. Roberts, 27, of 5115 Highway M at Mountain Grove, Jordan M. Wade, 23, of 4 Cabool Apartments Drive in Cabool, and Jenson L. Wade, 23, of 20 Cabool Apartments Drive in Cabool were each cited.

•Dawn M. Sikes, 37, of RR1 66 Box 125C in Summersville, was arrested May 31 for having active Texas County warrants for driving without a valid license, failure to display license plates and a seatbelt violation. An officer who was aware of the warrants arrested Sikes after observing her entering a black minivan at Texas County Memorial Hospital and then initiating a traffic stop on U.S. 63.

Sikes was taken to the Texas County Jail where she posted $347 bond and was released.

•Jacob A. Case, 22, of 17351 Ridge Road in Houston, was issued a citation for driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop on U.S. 63 at about 8:50 p.m. June 11.

•Blake A. Thomas-Haney, 28, of 404 Timber Hill Road at Raymondville, was arrested June 11 for having an active O’Fallon municipal warrant for assault on a police officer.

An officer made the arrest after responding to a report of a suspicious person sitting at a picnic table and drinking alcohol behind the Lutheran church on U.S. 63 in Houston. After making contact with the person – Thomas-Haney – a computer check of identification revealed the warrant. He was taken to the Texas County Jail to await extradition to O’Fallon.

•Billy J. Hayes Jr., 24, of 216 Bryan St. in Houston, was arrested June 11 for having an active Texas County felony warrant for first-degree property damage. An officer who was aware of the warrant made the arrest after observing Hayes in the front yard at his residence. He was taken to the Texas County Jail and held without bond.
