A fight at the Office Bar last week has resulted in the arrest of a Houston man on two felony charges.
Lee A. Rebert, 35, of 410 N. Grand Ave. in Houston, was arrested May 28 for having active Texas County felony warrants for armed criminal action and second-degree assault after an incident May 26 at the downtown Houston bar.
Investigating officers responded to the bar at about 11:15 p.m. and determined Rebert had assaulted a 40-year-old man with a black-and-white braided leather strap with a metal hook snap at one end, reportedly hitting the victim in the head several times with the metal snap end of the weapon.
The incident reportedly occurred after the victim attempted to break up a fight between two women in the bar. Witnesses told police the two men had begun grappling after the victim’s actions, and Rebert had pointed a stun gun at the victim, but didn’t use it. They said he then left the bar and returned a short time later with the strap, and proceeded to repeatedly strike the victim with it.
The victim was reportedly bleeding profusely from a wound on the left side of his head near his ear and was taken by ambulance for treatment at Texas County Memorial Hospital. The blood-stained strap was seized as evidence and taken to the police station and photographed.
An officer who was aware of the warrants arrested Rebert at his residence Thursday and took him to the Texas County Jail, where he was unable to post $200,000 bond.
