When the Texas County Fair-Old Settlers Reunion begins next week there will be a nod to historical tradition: The awarding of a rocking chair to the oldest settler attending.
Chamber Executive Director Brenda Jarrett said Wednesday that persons can sign up at the Murfin Building on the chamber fairgrounds. Proof of age is required. The winner will be announced Thursday night at the arena, where presentation of the chair from Storm’s Country Store and Antiques will occur.
Jarrett said that a bike and car cruise-in also is planned that evening. Those entering gain free admission to the arena that night. The first 40 registering also receive a dash plaque.
