This year at the Texas County Fair, the Houston FFA hosted “Agri-land,” featuring lots of agriculture-oriented fun and games for kids.
On day one of the fair (Wednesday), the kids enjoyed dirt cake and learned about the different types of soil.
Thursday, participants created their very own flower garden that they took home to plant outside.
On Friday, the kids made homemade ice cream and participated in the annual egg toss.
Winners of the competition were Oliver and Willa Appleton, and second place went to Jake Allen and Kaden Gaither.
Although there were many other things at Agri-land, the main attraction was the famous corn pit. Kids of all ages played in the pit.
“We had such a great week at the fair telling kids about all the interesting things agriculture has to offer,” said Houston FFA adviser Josh Roehrs. “A big thank you to the Texas County Fair Board for allowing us to let us use the building, Houston MFA for providing us with the corn and stock tank for the corn pit, as well as all the kiddos that came out and participated in the events.”
