Two persons were arrested Friday on drug charges, the Licking Police Department said.

Two people were arrested on drug charges last Friday by the Licking Police Department.

According to LPD Chief Scott Lindsey, a complaint was received during the afternoon from a residence on Walker Street regarding a person making threats. Then at about 10 p.m., an LPD officer on patrol initiated a traffic stop on U.S. 63 of a vehicle that turned out to be occupied by a woman and a man who was a person of interest in the earlier threats case.

A search of the vehicle and its occupants led to the discovery of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Matthew W. Sutton, 43, of Mansfield, and Hesper E. Hance, 37, of Licking, were each arrested for possession of controlled substances. They were transported to the Texas County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold, and a probable cause statement was submitted to the Texas County prosecutor seeking formal charges.
