Sales tax revenue decreased during the latest monthly distribution in Texas County, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Monthly sales tax revenue from a 1 percent levy on the City of Houston merchant sales dropped about 9.1 percent from the same period a year ago, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Revenue is up about 3 percent in the first half of the year compared to 2014.

The latest monthly distribution totaled $62,235, which was down about $6,515 from the same period a year ago. For the year, $360,560 has been collected. That’s up about $9,686 from the same period in 2014.

Two quarter-cent sales tax earmarked for streets, sidewalks and utility work totaled about $16,000 each, which is down $1,436 each from June 2014.

An eighth-cent sales tax earmarked for debt retirement on a fire truck totaled $718.
