Bettie June Jones, 84, daughter of Wayne and Sylvia (Walker) Merckling, was born June 15, 1931, in Worth County, Mo. She died Sept. 16, 2015, in Rolla, Mo.
Bettie spent her younger years in Worth County before moving to Houston in the mid 1940s. She attended grade school at Possum Trot and graduated from Houston High School in 1949.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charley; her son, Jeffrey; two brothers, Doyle and Norman Merckling; and her twin sister, Bonnie.
Bettie married Charley Jones on Feb. 15, 1950, in Houston, Mo., and to this union five children were born, Crystal, Ron, Tamaney, Neil and Jeffery.
Bettie is survived by her children, Crystal Emfinger and husband, Bill, of Rolla, Mo., Ron Jones and wife, Rita, of Edmond, Okla., Tamaney Murphy of Sebring, Fla., and Neil Jones and wife, Tammy, of Bucyrus, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Carrie Brown, Shannon Emfinger, Kimberly Wolfe, Nathan and Clayton Jones, Rachel Lovett and Aaron Murphy; eight great-grandchildren, Isaac Emfinger, Megan Brown, Hannah, MacKenzie and Reagan Wolfe, Jantzen Jones, Selah Damron and Luke Lovett; two brothers, Eddie Wayne and Dorman Merckling of Raymondville, Mo.; two sisters, Gail Lee of Raymondville, Mo., and Judy York of House Springs, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved.
She attended church for many years at Bethel Chapel, where she was a youth leader. Bettie also attended at Houston First Assembly of God and the last five years she attended at First Assembly of God in Rolla.
Bettie loved church, reading her Bible and watching or listening to Joyce Meyer. While her children were young, she made all of their clothes, gardened and helped Charley on their dairy farm, doing whatever needed to be done. She loved her children and grandchildren.
She is now rejoicing in Heaven with the one she loved the most, her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Bettie will be there to greet her loved ones at their home going time. She will be greatly missed by her family and many loved ones.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at Faith Fellowship Church with Pastor Bill Villapiano and Pastor Chuck Whitmire officiating. Pallbearers are Jay York, Shannon Emfinger, Isaac Emfinger, Eric Brown, Mike Brackett and Don Lee. Honorary pallbearers are Megan Brown and Louis Brackett. Burial was in Emery Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
