DeLois “Lois” Nola Williams Gorman, 87, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 25, 1928, in Ashley Creek, daughter of Dewell and Etina Nelson Williams. She and Alfred James Gorman were married Nov. 20, 1946.
She spent most of her childhood working on the family farm in Dent County. As a teenager, she worked at Montauk State Park. Upon married, she and her husband, Alfred, resided in Dent County except for a short time from 1951-’56 when they lived in California.
She was a lifelong member of Montauk Baptist Church, where her and her husband spent many years driving the church bus. She was saved as a young woman.
She enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren and watching them while their parents were working. She had a great love of animals and would feed any that came around.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; a son, James Gorman; a great-grandchild; a great-great grandchild; her parents; and six brothers, Everett, Lloyd, Melvin, Ernest, LeeRoy and Arthur.
Survivors include a sister, Darlene Silva of Boss; a son, Larry Gorman of Arizona; nine grandchildren; and many great- and great-grandchildren, other family members and friends.
Services were Saturday, Sept. 26, at Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Lloyd Heavin and Mike Gorman officiating. Burial was in Patterson Cemetery.
