The Houston High School softball team committed eight errors – leading to eight unearned runs – in a 13-6 defeat Tuesday at Mountain View-Liberty.
The Lady Tigers took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but Liberty answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning and scored five more times in the second to take a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
Stephani Crewse and Taylor Chipps both homered for HHS (1-1). Crewse drove in three runs. Chipps was 2-for-3 and scored two times.
Junior Tori McCloud gave up four runs – two earned – in one inning in the loss. She allowed one hit and walked three.
In five innings of relief, freshman Emily Roberts allowed 11 hits and gave up nine runs. Only three were earned.
Crewse homered to left field with two outs in the first to give Houston an early lead.
Chipps hit a home run with one out in the third as the Lady Tigers trailed 7-4.
