Deputies from the Texas County Sheriff's Department were called to several investigations in the last week.

The following are excerpts of reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A woman called at about 8:40 p.m. Sept. 15 to report a dispute with her father. An investigating officer made contact with the woman at her Highway V residence and determined she was highly intoxicated, and her complaint was unfounded.

•A woman called at about 8:30 p.m. Sept. 15 to report her son and another woman were causing problems at her Kelly Road residence. An investigating officer determined nobody involved wished to pursue charges.

•A woman called at about 7:10 p.m. Sept. 19 to report a woman had walked out of the woods and spoken to her 2-year-old grandson at her Highway N residence. An investigating officer was unable to locate the suspect.

•A woman called at about 8 p.m. Sept. 15 to report a donkey in the roadway on Highway B in the Brown Hill area. An investigating officer was unable to locate it.

•A 43-year-old Houston man called at about 8:50 a.m. Sept. 20 that he had observed a truck with its light on in the driveway of a U.S. 63 residence he owns in Houston. The man told an investigating officer that the woman who rents the house was incarcerated in the Dent County Jail and nobody should have been there.

The officer was unable to locate the truck.

•A 24-year-old Cabool woman called Sept 19 to report that someone had shot an arrow into a cattle trailer at her Finley Drive property.

An investigating officer asked the woman if the arrow might have been a stray shot by a bow hunter, but she stated she thought it was an intentional act due to several “issues” she has had in the past. There are no suspects.

•A 76-year-old Cabool woman called Sept. 18 to report that a freezer and several tools had been stolen that she had stored in a shed at her son’s Pea Ridge Road residence (with a total value of about $500).

•A 55-year-old Raymondville woman called Sept. 17 to report that a horse keeps jumping over a fence from her neighbor’s property and mingling with horses on her Friendship Drive property.

The woman told an investigating officer the horse has made the jump about three times, but she can’t figure out how to contact the man who owns it because he lives out of state. The officer determined the man lives in St. Charles, Ill., and obtained his contact information.

The information was provided to the woman, and a warning was mailed to him.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 1 p.m. Sept. 14 regarding a report of arson at a Mineral Drive residence at Houston.

A 34-year-old woman who lives there told the officer she had watched a man set her 1994 Dodge Dakota pickup on fire and leave the scene. The officer observed the truck burning and firefighters putting out the fire.

Investigation revealed that a 31-year-old male neighbor was a suspect, who had used a lighter to start the fire by lighting the truck’s seats. An in-dash CD player that had been swiped from the truck was also found during the investigation and seized as evidence.

A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor seeking felony charges against the man of knowingly burning (arson) and tampering with a motor vehicle.
