A Raymondville man received moderate injuries in an accident early Sunday, Oct. 25, east of Houston.

A wreck just east of Houston injured a drunk driver early Sunday, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Sgt. Dale Pounds said an eastbound 1995 Chevrolet pickup driven by David W. Cope, 27, ran off the right side of the roadway, returned back across, traveled off the left side and struck a tree about 1.5 miles east of Houston.

Cope, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was taken to Texas County Memorial Hospital by ambulance and had moderate injuries. The vehicle was totaled, Pounds said.

Cope is charged following the 2:05 a.m. accident with DWI, wearing no seat belt, having no insurance and careless and imprudent driving.

Pounds was assisted at the scene by Tpr. Marty Wiseman.
