Linda Faye (King) Wantland, R.N., passed away at her home in Licking, Mo., on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, at the age of 56.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Coy Wayne and Erma Jane (Hebblethwaite) King; and her grandparents, Roy and Eula (Sawyer) Hebblethwaite and Charley and Ruth (Nelson) King.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Donnie. They were married in Licking, Mo., on Feb. 8, 1974. Linda is also lovingly remembered by her son, Joshua and fiance’, Aimee Lane and children, Victoria Wantland of Rolla, Jayden Wantland of Licking, Evan Cady, Gracie, Devin, Dominic, and Elam Berriault of Licking; a son, Justin Wantland and fiance’, Christina Campbell, of Licking and children, Ty, Kaiden and Cael Wantland, Trenton and Hayden Topping; four brothers, Dennis King of Licking, Rickie (Patty) King of Eldon, Mo., Gary (Carole) King of Rolla, Mo., and Roger (Sheryl) King of Olean, Mo.; one sister, Nancy (Roy) Cook of Licking; and three sisters-in-law, Sherry Marsh, Debbie Wade and Shannon Ward and their families.
Linda was born in Houston, Mo., on Sept. 4, 1959. She attended school in Licking, Mo., and went on to earn a degree in nursing at Park College in Rolla, Mo. She was employed at Three Rivers Hospice South in Licking, Mo., as a R.N. Coordinator. Throughout her medical career she held many positions, EMT, LPN, RN and social worker.
She loved riding the Harley with Donnie and going to the casino.
Linda was a loving, understanding, fun and fantastic friend and grandmother. She loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with her family. Linda adored and treated her children and grandchildren like they were gold. They were the light of her life. She was always happy to have her grandchildren stay with her and Donnie.
As a young adult, Linda accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized by Brother Doyle Garrison.
She and Donnie were soulmates. They loved and cared for each other deeply. Linda was loved and adored by many, many wonderful friends and relatives. She never met a stranger. Linda will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Houston Bible Baptist Church with Pastor David Barbee officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
