Hollis “Pete” Barnes, 89, passed away Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, at his home in Licking.

He was born Dec. 23, 1925, son of Elby and Modia Vollmar Barnes. He and June Baker were married April 22, 1950. He later married Carolyn Broughton on Feb. 2, 1963.

He spent many of his working years logging timber, in service station work and as maintenance supervisor for Holiday Inn and Econo Lodge.

He enjoyed horseback riding, boating and water-skiing and attending country music shows.

He made a profession of faith as a Christian in 1997, was baptized and attended church as long as his health permitted.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nadine Nord; an infant son, Hollis Kent; and a grandson.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Carolyn: four daughters, Sherry Moncrief, Barb Tripp, Dixie Lea Baker and Suzanne Wind; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Services were Thursday, Oct. 22, at Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lyndell Decker officiating. Burial was in Boone Creek Cemetery.
