Houston High School senior quarterback Nathan Poynter, who led the Tigers’ game-winning drive in the final minutes Friday at Willow Springs, was named the ‘Built Ford Tough Player of the Week.’
Poynter connected with Ethan Kelley for a 16-yard gain on fourth-and-8 as part of the final drive that led to Houston’s go-ahead points in a 29-22 win. On the next play after hitting Kelley, Poynter hit Connor Clifton for 21 yards as HHS moved down the field.
Poynter finished 7-of-12 passing for 77 yards and a score.
