A drive by the U.S. Postal Service is raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research.

A special campaign — Ribbon of Hope — is underway at U.S. Post Office locations, including those in Texas County. The effort is designed to generate awareness and research dollars for breast cancer research.

A breast cancer stamp is available for purchase. Seventy percent of net proceeds above the cost of postage go to the National Institutes of Health, and 30 percent are transferred to the medical research program of the U.S. Department of Defense.

The campaign runs through Oct. 31.

The post office’s Mid-America District is encouraging customers and postal employees to purchase and promote the stamp.
