This character will be surfacing at residences and businesses in Houston as part of a fundraiser for the Houston Community Foundation. On Monday, he was spotted at the offices of the Houston Herald on Grand Avenue.

Houston’s affiliate of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks announced two Christmas activities this week.

The Houston Community Foundation will sponsor a residential and business holiday lighting contest for those with a City of Houston electric bill. In the home category, first, second and third places will be determined. A first-place winner will be announced in the business category. The first place winner in both categories win $100 off their electric bill in January.

To register, stop by Little House Gifts and more or Houston Herald to complete a form. There is no entry fee, but donations will be accepted.  Judging is Dec. 19.

Second project

The Grinch has arrived in Houston…another fundraiser of the foundation. The life-size cutout of the Dr. Seuss famous character is appearing in lawns and businesses. He will travel within a three-mile radius of the city. If he lands at your business and home, you’re asked to pay a fee for his removal and you can pick the next location.

Funds raised by the fun will be used to host a free public movie and for other community events.

Persons can learn who “Grinched” them also by paying a small fee.
