The Houston Farmers Market will meet Tuesday, Nov. 17, to focus on kitchen and food safety training in advance of the opening of the Houston Community Kitchen in downtown Houston.
The meeting runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Texas County Health Department meeting room on North U.S. 63 in Houston. Ron Gaston of the agency will conduct food safety training with any vendors or others interested.
A committee is working on a policies and rental agreement for the Lone Star Annex, which is under development by Downtown Houston Inc. north of the Lone Star Plaza. Three store fronts are being developed — office space for University Extension, a computer lab that could be used for business and ag training programs, the Great Hall, a meeting area with tables and chairs and multi-media capabilities; and the community kitchen.Â
