Michael R. Knauff, 67, of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015.
He was born Jan. 11, 1948, in Honolulu, Hawaii, son of George D. and Helen Knauff. He and Ann Hastings were married Feb. 3, 1968.
At age 10, he moved to Upton. He graduated from Houston High School in 1966.
He joined the Marine Corps and was stationed at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alab., where he met his wife, Ann. He served in Vietnam and after he was honorable discharged, he earned an engineering degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
He accepted a job with the Tennessee Valley Authority and moved his family to Chattanooga, Tenn. He retired after 18 years with the organization and worked for a number of private utilities before retiring for good.
He was a member of the Church of Christ but in recent years attended First Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Laurel Collins; and three brothers, George Jr, John Knauff and Gregory Knauff.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; a daughter, Elizabeth Mears, of Nashville, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services were Monday, Nov. 23, in Chattanooga National Cemetery under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home.
