Gov. Jay Nixon today appointed Krista “Kris” Neal, of Houston, as the new Texas County clerk. The position became vacant upon the passing of former Clerk Donald Troutman.
Neal, a Democrat, has served in the county clerk’s office for more than 20 years and was appointed interim county clerk by the Texas County Commission on Oct. 8.
“For more than two decades, Kris has been directly involved with the operations and management of the county clerk’s office, and her experience will ensure the services provided by the office are carried out with the consistency and quality required,” Nixon said. “I also wish to extend my condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Donald Troutman, who served his community admirably for more than 35 years.”
Neal’s term runs through the end of 2016.
