Mo. Gov. Jay Nixon will appoint a successor to fill the office of Don Troutman, who passed away last month.
The county commission appointed an interim county clerk, Kris Neal, who will serve until Nixon announces his selection. Neal was previously the chief deputy.
Stephanie Fleming, a spokesperson for Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander, said Wednesday that Nixon’s appointment will serve until the office is decided in the General Election next year.
The same procedure was used when Recorder of Deeds Susan Warkentin passed away. Nixon appointed Lindsay Koch, a deputy. That office also will be on the 2016 ballot.
