Sales tax revenue was down in Houston during the latest monthly distribution.

Sales taxes collected by Houston merchants dipped about 3 percent from the same monthly period a year ago, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The total from a one-cent sales tax was $49,234, which was down about $1,897 from a year ago. For the year, collections remain up about $13,311. In the first 10 months of the year, $585,846 has been collected.

Retailers also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes for streets, sidewalks and utility work. Each totaled $11,905. That’s down on each about $382 for the month.

An eighth-cent sales tax — set to retire next week for fire truck debt repayment — totaled $5,952.
